S'pore again

S'pore is obsessed w/abbreviations. I went to the Ministry of Manpower and got my Q ticket (not queue ticket, Q ticket. Y use 5 letters when 1 will do?). Luckily I went there early in the morning, before most S'poreans wake up, and didn't have to wait long before my number came up. I nearly lost my place as it took me more than 10 seconds to walk from my seat to the counter to be served, and they thought I might have gone missing. And now I have my dependant pass! I asked about the fact that it has lesley's employer's address on the pass instead of our address, and she said "have work address also caaaaaaan", so I assume it is ok.

Which reminds me of when I went to get the medical checkup required for the DP. The woman at the clinic gave me a piece of paper and said "Write your address here caaaaaaaan?", simultaneously asking me to write my address and teaching me a new usage of the word "can" at the same time.

The chest x-ray is worth talking about. I entered the x-ray room and was greeted with a friendly grunt and a "Take off your shirt" by the radiographer. It took a moment for me to understand that he had skipped all the small-talk such as "hello" and "how are you" and gone straight to the point. While I was taking off my t-shirt he maneuvered me towards the x-ray machine and told me to breathe in and not breathe out, then I heard the BZZZZZ, then he said "all done, collect at 4 pm tomorrow". I think the whole thing took around 1 minute.

Anyway, that is enough of my comments about S'poreans :) Me and lesley are happy to be back together again! Lesley seems to be getting used to full-time work now. And now it is my turn to get used to full-time work again :) I am going to start working full-time for Trellian again. I am more comfortable with the weather than I was expecting to be, and am very much enjoying the 2 brief storms that we had. I left home when the storm was starting thinking "How bad can it get in 10 minutes?", and ended up hiding under some HDB flats between my house and my destination :) There wasn't much to do, so I sang at the top of my voice and watched the S'poreans scurrying around trying to avoid getting wet. The schoolchildren seemed to quite enjoy it, but the adults took it very seriously.

Time to stop procrastinating now and get back to work..

So what is the plan for the thesis.

Are you happy with the title yet?
Do you start from the start, or do you review important bits?

I am pretty much happpy with the title. The biggest thing slowing my down is getting feedback from Harald. Unfortunately this is taking a long time.. so I am starting work for Trellian now (as of last Friday).

Mainly I am fixing up bits which are not in a submittable state :) After that, I'm not too concerned how good it is now.
